Our congregation did give rent money once to a family that in my opinion was lazy. I was never an elder so was not privy to the thinking. They have done meals for people after an operation. Other than that charity consists of finding a mark to give to someone or provide aid.

in my opinion, in a body of elders let’s say with 7 elders , 2 or 3 were pretty much on the ball.
they were reasonable, intelligent and moderate.
the others were either extremely extreme about everything or very liberal.. did you have qualified older men or were they all lousy to you?

Exactly. We have seen up and coming bright stars made elders at 24 with no humility or experience. It is related to nepotism

That comment about lieutenants hits home. Any old military guys here? Look up 90 day wonder. A long gone friend said it was officers, noncoms, and grunts

I think the confidential letter was read to us 2 weeks ago. Complete with a stern warningto obey. Then last week they had to walk it back because we do not have bethelites.

Virtually all now seem to be rigid company men. And like the title and power. A few of the old ones were human but around here they have all died.

If the unvaccinated cannot go dorr to door, meetings, conventions I will have to burn my vaccine card. I knew there was a downside to the jab.

one thing i've learnt over the years is to read between the lines.. that means reading statements carefully.. if you have never met someone, would you say "i have never met them" or would you say "i don't remember ever meeting them"?.

If it is immigrants being absorbed how did London end up with a Muslim mayor and a huge Muslim population.
Where (USA) I live there is a huge Hispanic community to the point where documents are in Spanish and I am made to feel unwelcome at certain stores. They are not doing undesirable jobs but rather are doing skilled labor for enough money to have newer cars and trucks. They fly Mexicsn flags.
The same for the African immigrants keeping their dress, customs.
Mist of them are not absorbing or adding flavor to our institutions but are keeping separate
